Moon Shot plays true 21st century rock’n’roll. So even at the threat of cliche we’re gonna say it like it is: this is genuine rock music from the heart built on all the melodic loudness we grew up with. Yes, it’s about the music, for real.

And this quartet is the right band to bring this honest-to-rock blast of music. These are no fresh-from-the-bud boys – they’ve already had careers hefty enough to define a person with the bands Children of Bodom, Disco Ensemble and Lapko.

Moon Shot’s second album is preceded with the single Yes!. It rushes at you with a chorus that embraces so tight that it’s hard to see if it’s loving or strangling you (or a bit of both). As chief composer, guitarist and producer Jussi Ylikoski says: “The song appears easygoing at first but when you look at it closer, you see that it’s special both musically and lyrically.”

 “People may also hear the chorus as something overly positive – and that’s fine – but I see it as a fight song. There’s a lot of things that aren’t ok in the world and YES we can do something about it,” vocalist and lyricist Ville Malja adds.

In a sense, this song captures the essence of Moon Shot’s different sides: positive aggression with a vulnerable message that you wanna join in with. Time to let this band into your life with a blast aimed right for the heart.

German Melodic Death Metal

PARASITE INC. were founded 2007 in the German Metal hot spot Aalen and became well-known pretty quickly. Their 2010 demo “Parasite Inc.“ already found a lot of fans within the worldwide Melodic Death Metal community. Since their debut album “Time Tears Down“ at latest, the Southern German band was predicted a great future. They received lots of positive feedback from the scene press as well as from dozens of headbangers in front of every stage PARASITE INC. played on. If on festivals or tours, at home or in foreign countries: The quartet reached every single audience and their fame grew. The reason why: PARASITE INC. developed their own sound right from the beginning while keeping their own trademarks. But not everything went well: line-up changes and the closing of their label followed, and so it became quiet around the band. Viewed from the outside, it looked like PARASITE INC. had disappeared as one of the highly praised talents within the depths of the scene.

But we were wrong! The Germans have been more active than ever, developing their sound continuously and were working intensely on new stuff in the background. In the mid of 2017, the band entered their own studio to record the long-awaited new album which is worth the waiting: eleven tracks unite into the mighty “Dead and Alive“. The band continues to offer powerful Melodic Death Metal – sometimes gloomy and atmospheric, sometimes straight into your face. But that’s not enough, so the band added several new elements like Punk, Thrash and 80’s Synth Rock, thus adding a lot of facets, creating a varied and exciting album that now arises. As with “Time Tears Down” the band had the complete control over the production.

Guitarist and singer Kai comments: It was definitely important for us to have a harmonious overall concept that satisfied us, from the artwork to the mix, while giving me a lot of time for the songwriting and above all for the lyrics. Our drummer Benni again did a fantastic job for the artwork and the mix.”

This time the mastering was done by the talented hands of Pitchback Studios mastermind Aljoscha Sieg who already gave the final touch to bands like August Burns Red, Nasty and Eskimo Callboy.

“Dead and Alive” is strongly influenced by their own fans, who significantly supported the new PARASITE INC. album through a crowdfunding campaign. It was released on August 17th via Reaper Entertainment.

Finnish Melodic Death Metal

After five long years from their latest release, Finnish metallers Suotana have emerged straight from the everfrost with a new album ‘’Ounas I’’, set for release on March 17, 2023! This full-length release is an epic continuation of the journey its predecessor ‘’Land of the Ending Time’’ began in 2018, and propels the band to a new height. ‘’Ounas I’’ contains 41 freezing minutes of music, including five brand-new Suotana tracks and one ‘Suotanized’ version of Summoning’s “Land of the Dead”.

 The album artwork captures the atmosphere of northern nature and landscapes from which the band was born. Guitarist and songwriter Ville Rautio states,”’Ounas I’ is a concept album which carries the listener through the ages, binding ancient history and the present day. The journey’s epic finale is a 13-minute mammoth of a song, ‘River Ounas’. This black metal-infused odyssey leads us to the current time, where preserving nature’s diversity is becoming more relevant than ever before.”

 Musically, the album introduces nuances while remaining firmly planted in familiar Suotana sounds, including melodic death metal, melodic black metal, and a dash of power metal. The most remarkable differences are the guests on the album. Keyboard player Veli-Matti Kananen (Kalmah) and female vocalist Mora contribute their own unique talents.

 Originally founded in 2005 as guitarist Ville Rautio’s solo project, Suotana’s upward trajectory was not diminished by several line-up changes in the wake of their 2014 debut album, “Forgotten Soil Of This Land”. The sextet joined the Reaper Entertainment family and released two more energetic full-length albums to critical acclaim, “Frostrealm” (2015) and “Land Of The Ending Time” (2018). The current lineup includes vocalist Tuomo Marttinen, guitarist Pasi Portaankorva, keyboardist Tommi Neitola, bassist Rauli Alaruikka, and drummer Rauli Juopperi.

 Suotana’s catalog contains a common thread: music and cover artwork are carefully interwoven to draw an impressive portrait of vast, deserted winter landscapes, whose gloomy atmosphere of oppressive loneliness runs like a heavy, dark band through the entire work.
